BMW has a long and illustrious history of building sports cars. It started with its 328 from the 1930s, continuing with the 507 of the 50s and then kicking off again with the Z series of roadsters that emerged in 1989 with the Z1, followed by the Z3, the Z8 and, in 2002, the first Z4.
